Expedia releases copies of GO!, on it’s external sites, to give employees, perspective employees and partners a look into the company. In the beginning of 2008, Parallax teamed up with The Human Factor, who provided strategy and content to create the interactive sixty page book and presentation that has fun facts, quotes, personal anecdotes, messages and photos filled with energy and emotion. A large portion of the content was employee submitted, which creates a unique, personal message. As Kristin Graham, Senior Director of Recruiting and Internal Communication writes, “This isn’t a press release - it’s a people piece”. The project was released internally a few months back and now externally to attract new clients, partners and potential employees.

Parallax wins a Silver Quill Award through the International Association of Business Communicators and The Benefits i-COMM Award recognizing best practices in internal communication. Both awards honor excellence in communication by selecting initiatives that advance the strategic objectives of the organization. The project, now in phase 2 is a completely customizable intranet called The Skinny that was created for The San Diego County Retirement Association. The Skinny, which functions like i-google with moveable widgets, allows each employee to customize their homepage with “skinny bits” that are most appropriate for their work flow. Daily news, polls, my pics and employee directory are a few of the favorites.
